The New Ethan Foster, Part 2

A year had passed since Ed had become Ethan Foster, and in that time, he had fully embraced his new life. At first, it had been a whirlwind of adjustments—learning how to move in a younger, stronger body, getting used to being treated like someone in their prime rather than a man approaching middle age, and, most importantly, stepping into Ethan’s life as a college student.

At first, the idea of going back to school had seemed daunting. Ed hadn’t set foot in a classroom in decades, and now he was suddenly surrounded by students half his original age, navigating coursework, social events, and the casual chaos of college life. But as the weeks went on, he realized something surprising—he loved it.

For the first time in years, he wasn’t burdened by the responsibilities of a dead-end career or the exhaustion of middle age. He was young, full of energy, and surrounded by endless opportunities. He threw himself into his classes, finding that his years of experience gave him a sharp edge in discussions. While most students groaned through lectures, he actually enjoyed learning again.

And then there was the social aspect. As Ed, he had been stuck in a routine—work, home, the occasional dinner with old friends. Now, as Ethan, life was a constant rush of excitement. Parties, late-night study sessions, road trips, spontaneous hangouts—he was part of something again. His new body gave him confidence he never had before, and it showed. People gravitated toward him. He had friends, attention, and, best of all, he had options. Dating as Ethan was nothing like it had been in his old life. He was young, good-looking, and free.

Every once in a while, he’d have a quiet moment where he’d think about the life he left behind. But then, he’d remind himself—he wasn’t Ed anymore. He was Ethan Foster, and he wouldn’t trade this life for anything.
