Twin Shifts, Logan/Brielle Part 3

Logan exhaled as he stepped back into Brielle’s apartment, tossing her designer gym bag onto the couch. The trip had been surreal, but slipping back into real life as Brielle felt even stranger. No more lazy beach days, no more fruity cocktails by the pool—just her daily routine, her responsibilities, her body.

Adjusting the tight black tank top that hugged his figure a little too well, he caught sight of himself in the mirror. The past week had made him completely used to seeing Brielle’s reflection, but something about today felt… off. His body felt heavier, his stomach slightly tense, a deep exhaustion settling into his limbs. It had to be from the long flight home—jet lag, dehydration, something. He shrugged it off.

A knock on the door pulled him from his thoughts. He already knew who it was.

Caleb pushed inside, arms crossed, looking pissed. Behind him, Brielle followed closely behind in Logan’s body, looking both excited and impatient. “Finally,” she said, tossing her bag onto the couch. “Not that I didn’t love my little vacation from myself, but I’m so ready to be me again.”

Caleb scoffed, closing the door behind him. “Yeah, yeah, let’s just swap already.”

Logan smirked, tossing his blonde hair over one shoulder. “Relax. I was Brielle for two weeks—I have a reputation to maintain.”

“Not funny.” Caleb shot him a glare. “Let’s go.”

Rolling his eyes, Logan extended his hand, grabbing Brielle’s wrist to trigger the swap.

Nothing happened.

The smirk on his face faded. Logan furrowed his brows and tried again. Still nothing. A sinking feeling formed in his gut.

Brielle’s excitement turned into confusion. “Uh, what’s the hold-up?”

Caleb’s expression darkened. “Dude. What’s going on?”

Logan swallowed hard, his mind racing. Then, slowly, he started putting it together. The exhaustion, the weird tightness in his body, the rule—the one he had never needed to care about before now.

His stomach dropped.

Caleb’s eyes narrowed. “Tell me you didn’t.”

Logan didn’t answer.

Caleb’s jaw clenched. “Tell me you didn’t hook up with some guy.”

Logan let out a nervous laugh, but there was no humor in it. “Look, it was a vacation, things happened—”

Brielle’s face paled. “Oh my god.”

Caleb ran a hand down his face. “Dude. You know the rule. If you have sex with a guy while swapped as a girl, you can’t swap back until after their next period.”\

Logan felt lightheaded. “Okay, but that’s what, like… a week? Two?”

Brielle crossed her arms. “Mine ended the day before the trip!”

The room went silent.

Caleb’s eye twitched. “You’re telling me… we have to wait a month?”

Brielle groaned, flopping onto the couch. “Oh, this is so not my problem.”

Caleb glared at Logan. “Mom and Dad are gonna kill you.”

Logan swallowed, rubbing his temples. A month. A whole month stuck as Brielle, living her life, dealing with her routine.

He forced a smile, but it was weak. “Guess I’m really Brielle now for a while.”
