Inspired by TG Swapping Caps series Humans of the Great Shift
The Great Shift didn’t just happen to me and my dad — it happened to almost everyone. The whole resort turned into a chaotic mess when it hit. Old, young, men, women — everyone woke up in the wrong bodies. It’s been a few weeks now, but it still feels like a dream I can’t wake up from.
I used to be a normal 10-year-old, just excited to spend my summer vacation building sandcastles and swimming in the pool. Now? I’m stuck in my dad’s big, bald, hairy body, sweating under the sun like one of the other dads at the resort.
The weirdest part is how normal everything is starting to feel. At first, people panicked, screamed, cried. But after a couple of days, everyone calmed down. The government told us to stay put until they could sort out the mess, so now, the resort just… keeps running. Except now, half the kids are in adult bodies, and the adults are stuck running around like kids.
Like me.
I’m sitting by the pool, pretending to enjoy a cigar — not lit, obviously — because all the other “dads” around me are doing the same. Most of them are probably kids too. I spot a woman sipping a cocktail at the bar who I know used to be one of the resort’s lifeguards, and now she’s clearly stuck in someone’s mom.
It’s like everyone just gave up and started pretending this is normal. Even my dad, who’s now in my 10-year-old body, is off splashing around with the other swapped kids like it’s recess.
Meanwhile, I’m stuck with this deep voice, this bald head, this big strong body that everyone assumes knows what it’s doing.
I just want to go home.
But the government says it could take months.
Worst. Vacation. Ever.
